Layers of Landscape: a walk along the Wye from Builth to Penddol
The Heart of Wales Geopark is delighted to be partnering with Radnor Wildlife Trust to provide a guided walk from Builth to Penddol Rocks, combining Sarenta King's knowledge of the modern Wye Catchment Area with Joe Botting's understanding of the rocks beneath. The walk will include a discussion of the ancient volcano at Llanelwedd, and the magma chambers and fossil-rich mudstones at Penddol... taking in along the way the surrounding landscape, land use, and changes in the modern river ecology such as the invasive Himalayan Balsam.
The walk will be around 2 miles, mostly on flat ground, although getting down to the river itself needs a bit of scrambling down slopes. We will meet at the Groe, by the statue of the bull (next to the bus stop).
The number of places on the walk is limited, so booking is essential. Please let us know by email if you would like to come.
